Lição 2.3 Story: The Letter

The letter has arrived.

It came on real paper, in a real envelope, with a real postmark. (Some students, like Maya in Loulé, almost lost it because their mother thought it was junk mail. Some students, like Klara in Innsbruck, received it in two languages — German and English — read out loud by a grandmother who cried at “by the authority vested in this office”.)

In this lesson, you read the letter. You read it slowly. The text appears below in your default language; you can switch to English, Portuguese, German, Polish, Greek, or French at any time. There is also an audio version — Bella IA’s own voice, recorded in five languages — that you can play while following along.

Some students read the letter once and answer immediately. Others read it three times across two days before they can decide. There is no right pace. We have found, across cohorts, that the most thoughtful answers tend to come from students who let the letter sit overnight. The Moon is new tonight; tomorrow, the first thread of light will appear in the sky. We hope to see your answer by then.
