Every journey needs equipment. Some of yours is digital. Some of it is physical. All of it is meant to be used, not displayed.
This lesson hands you three things. Download all three before moving to the quiz.

1. THE SPHERE MISSION PATCH
A high-resolution PDF and PNG of the official SPHERE mission patch. Print it on adhesive paper, sew it on a jacket, stick it on a notebook, frame it on your wall — your call. The patch carries the silver crescent Moon and the SPHERE name. When you wear it, you are not just decorating. You are declaring you belong to a cohort that crosses five countries and twelve stages.

2. THE ASTRONAUT NOTEBOOK (template)
A DOCX template based on the EXPLORE programme’s Astronaut Logbook, adapted for HLJ-SPHERE. It is structured into 12 sections — one per stage — each with prompts, log fields, and reflection space. From Stage 4 onwards, you will use it to document your failures. From Stage 8 onwards, you will use it for your real observations. Print it now or keep it digital; both work. It is yours.

3. THE CONTROL ROOM DIY KIT
A PDF with instructions for converting any classroom into a SPHERE-style control room using only cardboard, printed posters, and one or two cheap items (string lights, a clock you can label “Mission Elapsed Time”). The kit includes printable signs (“SPHERE — MISSION CONTROL”, airlock signage, equipment-status panels). Some schools spend an afternoon on this. Some schools build it incrementally over weeks. Some skip it entirely and run the cohort in a regular classroom — also fine. The kit is a tool, not a requirement.

These three resources will travel with you across the journey. You will see them again in Stage 4 (when the notebook becomes critical), in Stage 8 (when the patch comes with you to Alqueva), and in Stage 12 (when the cohort gathers, however virtually, to close the journey).
Welcome aboard.
